Cambodian Women and the Khmer Rouge
[ send me this essay ]
This 7 page report discusses the genocide that took place in Cambodia during the totalitarian regime of the Khmer Rouge in 1975-1979. Various empirical studies reported that Cambodian women experienced the most extensive trauma. These women were victims of physical violence, often of a sexual nature, perpetrated by their fellow citizens. They were exposed to multiple forms of emotional abuse, torture, and forced labor. Many witnessed the deaths or executions of their husbands, and most lost at least one, and often several, of their children. Extended kinship networks, so much a part of their cultural heritage and their everyday functioning, were destroyed. Bibliography lists 8 sources.

Cultural Development Of Vietnamese Women
[ send me this essay ]
4 pages in length. The topic of this paper is important for many reasons, not the least of which includes the social, economic and gender oppression Vietnamese women have historically experienced with regard to cultural development. One only has to be concerned with equitable treatment for everyone across the globe to have an interest in the way in which Vietnamese women are routinely deprived of their rightful cultural development. The questions this paper seeks to answer involve the extent to which the tenets of patriarchy single-handedly guide every nuance of cultural development for Vietnamese women, or if they maintain any semblance of independence apart from their gender oppressed existence. The welfare of Ethiopia’s rural women is of particular concern in that they represent the majority in Ethiopian society. These women have few economic options in life. Such employment is largely nonexistent in Ethiopia and far too many women are forced into the industry of prostitution. This paper explores the options available to Ethiopia’s women and suggests that in order to changed the lives of these women we must address both Ethiopian culture and entrepreneurial options.
