Domestic Violence And Immigrant Hispanic Women
[ send me this essay ]
6 pages in length. Domestic violence plays no favorites and overlooks no individual. Socioeconomic status, ethnicity, age or religion - no one is immune from the physical and emotional effects of domestic violence, inasmuch everyone - no matter where they reside upon the ladder of life - is vulnerable to being victimized. There is one defining factor, however, that shifts the likelihood of one type of person being more prone than another: cultural undertones. Historically, global societies where men hold a much stronger presence within the social fabric such as in the Hispanic communities have a higher incidence of domestic abuse compared to places like the United States where gender equity is more prevalent. This anthropological consideration - while affording a greater understanding - makes the reality of domestic violence all the more difficult for immigrant Hispanic women who must battle centuries of ingrained cultural components in their attempts to escape such gratuitously violent treatment. Economic Empowerment and its Relation to Women's Reproductive Choice and Health
[ send me this essay ]
A 5 page examination of the contention that "the relationship between women's employment and fertility is 'elusive and ambiguous'". The author speculates that in some situations women's employment might be likely to result in greater sexual and reproductive choice. This contention can be demonstrated with a look at microcredit programs, programs which are designed to give women an economic leg-up in the world of business. Sometimes such programs, however, have unexpected results, results which could serve more as a detriment than as a benefit to women's reproductive choice and health. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Empirical Research Proposal Regarding the Oppression of Women in
Islamic States
[ send me this essay ]
This 12 page report discusses whether or not the
oppression of women in Islamic states is based in the religious
theology of Islam or in the cultural contexts of individual
nations. Many believe that the Quran (Koran) teachings and male
dominance have caused this situation when the actual problem has
been more directly related to the interpretation of holy
scripture by men. It is the fundamentalist extremists who should
take the blame for distorting the teachings of Islam. This paper
is written in ways that lend themselves to the actual development
of a larger research project. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
